This is all very raw because my mum had a heart attack just before Christmas and already undergone 2 major operations, which this recent incident is bitterly adding to our heartache.
We have been longing for a horsebox and following my daughter's trip to pony camp, in York, we decided that it would be best just to purchase one of our own because not long after we departed we needed to sedate him, for his own safety and then again for travelling back home, which we cannot understand because he has travelled on his own on many occasions.
My initial contact was made via eBay...2 days later I received a message asking if I was still interested in the horse box, which of course we were! However, I received no contact from eBay to state that the listing was a scam.
After much deliberation, we agreed to purchase the vehicle. The seller provided me with very informative details. I honestly believed that the account was PayPals, not the sellers. I even contacted the on-line chat to confirm that it was not a scam. The correspondence was sophisticated and professional, I had no reason to doubt the sale or procedure. I wasn't to know that the day that I paid the money, was just like burning it.
I obviously realised that it was a scam when the box was not delivered. I immediately reported it to Paypal, eBay, my bank, the seller's bank and Action Fraud, which I felt that most of them were judging me for being so stupid but the correspondence looked so legitimate. I find it really hard to comprehend that the banks do not protect bank transfers, unless of course you have been hacked. You are still a victim of fraud, no matter how they gain the money from you.
Needless to say, I now just have to wait for an outcome, which will more than likely be nothing!!
