Vodafone refuse to help

mardi 13 janvier 2015

Hi there, can you help?

At the end of July, I excitedly took out an upgrade with Vodafone and looked forward to getting my mobile. However, I just as quickly lost my job and all things financial took a turn for the worse. I struggled to pay my bills and was falling behind with my payments including to Vodafone. I contacted their webmail team in September and was told that a repayment arrangement could be put in place as long as I pay a bit towards that months bill. I agreed thinking I could but in the end just couldn't find the cash to do so.

I then didn't get in touch for a couple of months as I felt embarrassed and Vodafone didn't contact me other than a text saying my services would be restricted if I didn't pay up. Then in November I received a letter from fpc DCA saying I owed £228.31 and that Vodafone value my custom and are keen to work with me and come to an arrangement and I should call them to make full payment and discuss my financial position.

I decided not to ring them but wrote a letter directly to Vodafone instead, explaining my financial situation again - they didn't reply.

So I waited. My mobile service was then completely disconnected which I was expecting. They called and I told them about the letter I sent them. I was told in no uncertain terms that no-one told me to write to them and as far as they are concerned, my contract with them has been cancelled and a final bill will be sent out to me.

I received the bill on Saturday for a total of £768.95 which includes £471.30 for cancellation prior to contract end date and a £4.17 late payment fee; the rest is the overdue balance.

I know this is all my fault but I really thought Vodafone would have at least given me a chance to try and clear the debt through instalments. If anyone else has been in this position, I would really appreciate some advice on my next step.

Thanks...

A.
