I am trying to apply for a remortgage and I have been declined. I checked my credit rating with noddle and nothing came up but then I checked with Equifax and there is a default payment owing to BT from 2009 for £165. I haven't been a BT customer for years and I certainly have never received letters or communication regarding this debt or demands to pay it. I phoned and emailed BT but as I don't have reference or account number, they said I can't even pay it off or sort it out. I'm fuming because I really need to help a family member out and the only way i can is to remortgage my house.
