My husband died in July leaving me with no money. His insurance didn't pay out and I still haven't finished paying for his funeral. We had a shared ownership house with the mortgage paid off but that it all. I am disabled and I have been unable to work for ten years so money has always been an issue. Unfortunately I didn't know the extent of these issues till he became very ill and I set up a payment plan with a debt company. On his death his personal credit card debts were set aside and when I was awarded bereavement benefit my ESA was stopped so I gained nothing from that. MBNA (Abbey) have sold his debt on to a collection company who are now harassing me for his share of my home. Barclays did the same thing and after I had put my story onto their twitter feed they decided to help me giving they said the harassment would stop and another card that my husband had used in my name would be cleared also they gave me £500 for compensation. MBNA I fear are going to be far less humane and I am terrified of losing the little that I have. Any ideas that anyone could share would be welcome I have lived through some of the most painful months I could ever have imagined and I am now desperate.
