Hi all, new member here. Good to see interesting content and up to date / sensible comments.
Out of the blue I received a CCJ claim form referring to a 4 year old debt (at least) for a mobile phone bill I could no longer afford due to losing my job and illness.
Spoke to Step Change who gave usual by the book advice. Wish I had found this site first.
I am convinced that Claimant (Lowell Portfolio1 Ltd) have bought this debt and are now pursuing it to try to make a profit. They are working with BW Legal, also from Leeds.
Having read the threads re Lowell & Bryant and can a CCJ be raised on an old debt, My question is.......should I send the CPR request to Lowell OR BW Legal (who are named as the people to send documents and payments to)?
On the advice of Step Change I have already sent a an admission of debt form in with a budget showing inability to pay, requesting the County Court to set £1/ month payment level.
So I may have ruined any chance I have of getting this one set aside.
Opinions please. Thank you.
