Hello, just writing for some advice.
I received the attached letter a few days back and I'm quite worried. Now, I have been living away from home on and off all over the country so I've not really been here to sort it out. I use my mums address for all my mail including jobs and so forth but she usually returns them all to sender but this time I was there to open this letter.
It doesn't state in the letter what the money owed is for but I can only presume that it may be for a £3 train fare I dodged about 3 years ago. At the time I was caught out the police were present but the ticket officer simply said they will not get involved, but if I couldn't prove my identity the police would arrest me for such n such an act. But fortunately I had my ID. So, They said I would be hearing from them and it may result in a fine. But I moved away not long after this and forgot about it and I can only presume any letters that came for me, my mum returned them to sender every time but this time I was here to open this one.
How seriously should I take this arrest warrant threat? I mean surely it's a civil matter not a criminal matter so I cannot understand why they would issue an arrest warrant, and surely the police have better things to do than go around arresting people for unpaid civil fines. And how true is it that they can force there way into my mums house? I mean I'm not on the voting register there and I'm not on the council tax as living there.
Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated as I don't want this to get any worse and I most certainly don't want a criminal record!
