Hey there everyone.
This is my first post, and I could really use some help, advice and guidance.
I took a job with a company in London back in 2011 (living in essex) and all was well until in Feb 2013 the London office was closed and the sales team were made field sales.
In November 2013 we were told that unless we had client meetings we'd be required to be in the office and this change would come into effect in Feb 2014.
I fought it, raised concerns etc, mainly from a cost perspective - we would be required to pay our own travel costs from Feb 2014 - something the company had previously covered.
We (myself and young family) looked to relocate, and were about to do so when I was told be a manager that just because I was doing so 'the company didn't owe me anything', which made me reconsider and ultimately not relocate - apart from the fact that there was no reloaction assistance either.
The company extended my travel cost arrangement until the end of September 2014, which means I now have to pay out a considerable amount of my monthly salary on commuting.
I asked for redundancy, but was told the role still exists, so I'm ineligible for this.
I then asked for a severance package, but was told the company wouldn't entertain the idea.
I've had no help from the company in terms of insight into what is fair and reasonable in terms of commute, and travel costs and the stress is really beginning to take it's toll, and I don't know what to do
I have a mobility clause in my contract:
"You will be based at (address removed) but you may be required to work at such locations as theCompany will specify from time to time whether on a permanent or temporarybasis"
Can anyone help me in terms of guidance as to what is fair and reasonable travel/commute costs, and commute in miles, and whether, by law the company have to offer redundancy?
I am almost at the point where I cannot afford to get to work, but need the income to support my family.
Thanks massively in advance for your help :)
