Angiogram waiting list - any ideas?

mercredi 29 octobre 2014

Hi,

My step father has been for inconclusive tests regards a possible heart problem - he has great difficulty walking even short distances on the flat

They have decided he needs to go for an angiogram to determine the cause of the problems

However, they are saying the waiting list is 4-6 months for this procedure!

This seems utterly ridiculous when they have admitted he has a serious problem but are unable to determine what - does anyone have any suggestions for speeding this up?

Around 6 years ago, my wife had heart issues and we paid for her to go to 2 private sessions ( 2 x £250) for a treadmill test and 24 hour cardiograph (? think thats what it was called at least) box - this resulted in them giving here a angiogram (NHS) within 2 weeks and an angioplasty (again, NHS) within another 2 weeks due to the seriousness

This is all within the same area and Trust as my Stepfather

We tried to get him to go private for the initial consultations, but whilst he could (just about) afford it, he is rather stubborn and insists as he's paid NI all his life, he shouldn't pay (even if, as in this case, it is to the detriment of his health)

All ideas welcome folks,

Thanks
