Capital One PPI refund signature query

samedi 21 février 2015

Hello there,

I had a Capital One credit card that I defaulted on in 2009. After going through the unenforceable route they never supplied me with a copy of the CCA. At the same time I also put in for a reclaim on the PPI they'd sold me on the account.

At that time they turned down the PPI claim and I never did anything else about it.

Capital One sold the debt to Lowells and even after telling them that I'd never received the signed CCA, they told me that they were contacting Capital One to obtain it. Apparently Capital One still can't find a signed CCA so it's back on hold.

Last week I recieved a letter from Capital One saying that they'd reviewed my PPI claim and now accepted it and that I was due a payment which even though they'd sold the debt to Lowells as a gesture of good will they were going to send me a cheque for the amount (around £1500).

Now today I've recieved a letter saying that they can't do that as the signature they have on file does not match the signature of my letter. Can only assume that the letter they refer to is the one for the PPI reclaim.

They want me to send them a copy of a either my driving licence or passport with a copy of my signature. Then after that they can send me the cheque.

Just really worried that they're trying something underhanded to be able to obtain a copy of my signature, which after all this I really wouldn't put it past them.

Does anyone have any experience of this before? Really could do with some advice as the money would be really desperately handy right now.

Thanks in advance for any help.
